Senior Assurance Engineer

Spring Technology's client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, are currently looking to recruit a Senior Assurance Engineer for an initial 6 month contract on a rate of c.£450-525/day (outside of IR35).

Responsibilities:

* Disaster recovery - all areas both technical and non-technical

* Regular testing through automation and dry runs

* Development of dashboards for real time MI

* Data protection - Backup solution and ongoing management

* Assurance standards and consultation to wider IT

* Reporting and alerting mechanisms

* Drive improvements across technology

* Planning, upgrading, maintaining, monitoring and administering the assurance platform as well as troubleshooting and resolving any issues on behalf of the internal customers

Requirements:

* Experience working in a quantitative manner with RPO / RTO / MBTF metrics

* Strong ownership, ability to work undirected to discover gaps and propose actions and drive improvements

* Ability to define strategy / roadmaps for longer term improvements

* Expert knowledge of common virtualisation and disaster recovery technology and best practices across multi OS environments, in multi data centre environments.

* Strong experience of SRM, Recover Point and general SAN based replication

* Experience of common Enterprise infrastructure components

* Expertise with data centre management and best practices

* General working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems

* Knowledge and experience of agile working, including such disciplines as Kanban, feedback, retrospectives

Desirable Skills:

* Experience of working in a DevOps environment across multiple agile teams

* Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and integration with code repositories

* Knowledge of Ansible, data vaults, SRM, Recovery point, DataGuard, MetroCluster - dual site active / active SANs, Powershell / PowerCli

* General security design and architecture knowledge relating to data integrity

* Ability to code / script to small/ medium complexity across a number of languages using libraries and web api based methods

* Python or other UNIX based language (BASH, Perl, etc) expertise

* Knowledge and experience of AWS based services
