My client in the Newcastle area is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer on contract basis to be part of an Electric Vehicle project they're currently working on.

With access to remote work and flexible working hours; they are looking for someone with the following skill-set/experience:

* Experience in the whole software development life-cycle, ideally, the V-model life-cycle.

* Experience in development of real-time embedded software using the C programming language for safety critical automotive applications.

* Experience with MISRA coding standards.

* CAN-bus and CAN communication protocols.

* Debugging on real-time embedded systems.

* Dealing with real time operating systems.

* Experience in leading software development activities and teams to achieve project objectives and time-lines.

* Experience in mentoring and coaching software engineers in best practice.

Desirable Skills:

* UML.

* AUTOSAR

* Experience with high level automotive CAN protocols, especially UDS-on-CAN, OBD, and J1939.

* Experience with other vehicle network technologies, especially CAN FD, Flex-RAY, and vehicle ethernet.

* Experience working with Tier 1 automotive suppliers.

* Experience of software development for ISO26262 ASIL-D compliance

* Knowledge of or experience of working with the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) development framework
