£12-£13 per hour

Role Description for Magnetic Ranging Technician

The role holder will assist in the running of the Portland Land Magnetic Range, ensuring that the magnetic measurements of MOD and commercial items are undertaken to meet the defined defence standards. The role holder may also be required to assist in undertaking periodic magnetic surveys of UK and international manufacturing and storage facilities to ensure that low magnetic equipment is stored within facilities which meet the defined defence standards.

Minimum Role Requirements (Essential)

* Technical Qualifications

* Minimum of 3 GCSEs grades A* to C, including English, Mathematics and a relevant Science,

* NVQ level 2 in an Engineering, Technical or Testing and Measurement discipline or equivalent qualification

* Good technical skill base

* Physical ability to undertake manual handling activities

Role Requirements (Desirable)

· Experience of working in a Testing and measurement facility

· Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship

· Full UK Driving Licence

* Fork lift licence

* Familiarity with Royal Navy MCMV Magnetic Hygiene requirements
