Infrastructure Engineer - Cisco, Linux

Spring Technology's client, a public sector organisation, are currently looking to recruit an Infrastructure Engineer for an initial 3 month contract on a rate of £350-375/day (outside of IR35) based in Glasgow.

Responsibilities:

* Manage the service delivery and security aspects of the IT Infrastructure to ensure it is operating efficiently and according to service level agreements (SLA).

* Provide third line user support to users concerning IT Infrastructure issues to ensure associated problems are identified and resolved

* Guide and advise business area and IT colleagues on Infrastructure issues and protocols to ensure minimal disruption and that activities are properly aligned

* Provide technical and operational assistance to consultants, contractors and colleagues in relation to all infrastructure related activity in order to meet agreed service levels

* Co-ordinate, plan, implement, monitor and control processes, procedures and resources across the Infrastructure team to ensure the optimal performance of the team

* Provide regular guidance and support to IT Service Desk Engineers in order to transfer knowledge and skills relative to Infrastructure issues

* Actively engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain relationships and to ensure effective service delivery

* Respond to non-standard stakeholder and customer queries and complaints to ensure their effective and efficient resolution

* Provide feedback on operational issues relative to Infrastructure activities to ensure compliance with SQA policies, procedures and reporting requirements

* Develop, maintain and evaluate documentation relative to Infrastructure functions to improve understanding of the systems, their operation and to assist in problem resolution

Requirements:

* Experience working within a system administrator and/or support experience in an infrastructure related role

* Experience managing and maintaining Cisco Switching technology and/or firewall configuration

* At least 2 year's Linux systems administrator and 3 years user-level Linux experience (Red Hat, Solaris, AIX)

* At least 2 year's MS Windows Server systems administrator and 3 years user-level MS Windows support experience

* Extensive knowledge of IT networking and vLAN technologies

* Knowledge and working experience of IPT telecoms infrastructure (VOIP, contact centre, ISDN, Voicemail) administration

* Knowledge of the installation, configuration and tuning of server operating systems to support various application systems

* Knowledge and experience of working in a virtual server environment (VMware, Xen or KVM hypervisor)

* Working knowledge of storage technologies and services built on them

* Knowledge of the installation, configuration and tuning of systems management tools (monitoring & alerting, management and distribution, anti-virus and security toolsets)

* AD, Group Policy and LDAP administration knowledge
