Role: Solution Architect

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Livingston

Duration: 3 months

Key Responsibilities:

You will be accountable for the definition of solution designs which balance the needs of the business with the evolution of the technical landscape by:

* Creating and delivering innovative end-to-end solution designs that meet the requirements of the sponsor while maintaining the overall integrity of the Technology systems estate.

* Assisting delivery teams in aligning to the overall solution architecture and adjusting the architecture as needed in the face of changes to requirements through to product launch.

* Working with delivery teams in developing solutions that are secure, highly responsive, scalable, highly available, and resilient in the face of failure of dependent components and systems.

* Ensuring solution designs align with prevailing Technology strategy, and the relevant technology and corporate policies (such as security, data management and retention, PCI, etc.).

* Ensuring Architecture Repository and associated artefacts are accurate.

The main focus of your work will be in support of Customer Management, which is a core part of the UK Technology organisation. The Customer Management area has responsibility for Sales and Support to Customers, using a wide variety of application components - the responsibility of this role is to design how these components operate together, and how they integrate with the other capabilities outside the Customer Management platform.

Technical Leadership:

* Providing expertise on open source tools and systems.

* Identifying the key technologies, components and practices that deliver value to the client.

* Delivering strategic technologies and best practices to help spread acceptance within the delivery teams.

* Supporting the definition of guidelines for architecture and solutions design within the department and helping projects to deliver within those guidelines.

* Participating as subject matter expert on internal working groups and forums as requested; and also representing the client in technology, standards and professional forums as appropriate.

* Maintaining your own personal skills and knowledge in the field of software architecture and design.
