C++ / Embedded / Engineer / Networks / Linux / Networking services / Wireless technologies experience.

Contract Length: initial 3 months

Location: Essex

Day Rate: Up to £425

A contract C++ Software Engineer required for an initial 3 months to work on a Green field project alongside a specialist Software consultancy in Essex.

The ideal contractor will have past experience working within consumer electronics products or Networking service provision or IP based Media delivery type roles.

Specialist Knowledge:

- Delivery of Embedded software for consumer grade products.

- Software Development best practices and processes.

- Technical knowledge of Linux Architecture covering (Bootloaders, Kernel, Drivers, FileSystems & 3rd Party Utilities).

- Software configuration and Release Management.

- Issue management using defect tracking tools (e.g. Jira, Clearquest, TRAC, other).

Technical Skills:

- Expertise of applying C in a multitasking embedded environment.

- Skilled in working within an embedded Linux environment with embedded Linux Toolchains.

- Strong, Creative and Productive software Debugging Techniques.

- Knowledge of software processes such as AGILE.

- Creation and Maintenance of project documentation.(Local Procedures, Technical Reports, How To's).

Desirables:

- Internet protocol knowledge with one or more of the following.

*Application layer DHCP, DNS, FTP

*Transport layer TCP, UDP, etc

*Internet layer IPv4 IPv6 etc

- Wireless Networking protocols. WiFi, 802.11 family, WPS

- TR-069 WAN Management Protocol and related (TR-098, TR-111, TR-143)

- DSL/ASDL Broadband Technology & Protocols (IpoE, PPPoA, VCI / VPI)

- Software development with in these fields.

*Broadband Routers.

*DLS router/Modems.

*WiFi Networks.

- Experience working with Networking Applications (eg. Firewalls, Routing, Telnet, HTTPD, FTP)

- Wireless Network device management. 2.4G & 5G

- HTTP Embedded User Interfaces (HTML, JavaScript, CGI)
