AWR: IT contractor's guide to the Agency Workers Regulations

Who they apply to – in terms of individuals and businesses, is a question that many in the contracting sector have been understandably asking about the Agency Workers Regulations, in advance of their commencement from October 1st 2011, writes Ben Evans, of the e-commerce and intellectual property team at Lawdit Solicitors.

As a temporary agency, or worker, you should also know what the AWR means for you, your entitlements and your day-to-day working practices which, for some, will dramatically change once the regulations come into force. Knowing your rights under the AWR – what you can do, and what you can’t – because of its anti-avoidance measures, will smooth any transition and should help protect against any nasty surprises.
