Ex-IT leader fires at LinkedIn

A former IT specialist has launched a social networking website for business types aimed at offering them almost real-time productivity gains.

Chief executive Martin Warner, an ex-IT leader of Bearing Point and JP Morgan, has taken the wraps off Talkbiznow.com, hoping it will attract 3million users within six months.

To match and better his rivals, most obviously LinkedIn with 25m users, Warner’s site offers conferences, instant chat, presentations, productivity reports, calendars and career biogs.

Similar to existing social sites, users can store and email, blog and chat with their contacts, ‘nudge’ them if they forget, and search for new ones, via adverts, conferences and networks

Visitors are currently invited to feedback their experience of the beta version – a “complete and comprehensive product” before the software updates the facilities in September.

Warner has reportedly said a business social networking site should be capable of showing PowerPoint presentation to six different people at the same time, while being able to find them new business partners and suppliers.

Rather than focusing on keeping business types connected, the site’s primary aim is to make people more productive in their business network, and to add value to the way they work.
