How to freelance e-book unveiled

With the days of the government’s regional business advisor now officially numbered, enterprising types about to 'go it alone' may find the point they need in the right direction from the new e-book, a 'Guide to Freelancing'.

Authored by PCG, the trade body representing freelancers, the 80-page title provides a "roadmap to successfully running a freelancing business", for both business newcomers and their harder-nosed peers.

Based on 10 years of problem-solving for freelance workers, the e-book guides readers through the essentials - tax, bookkeeping and compliance; the everyday – marketing, PR and cash-flow, and the strategic – how to pitch, win and manage work.

At the least, it 'does the ground work' for freelancers, allowing them to "get on working with clients," PCG said, rather than having to juggle them alongside having to learn everything from scratch without help.

At its most, and thanks to the group’s forum, members and associates, the guidance "combines thousands of years of freelancing wisdom".

In also reflecting on the book, which comes ahead of next month's National Freelancers Day (November 23rd ), PCG managing director, John Brazier explained: "Our core mission is to ensure they [freelancers] get support and advice in every stage of running their freelance business."
