IT Manager
Bainbridge, Leyburn

The Yorkshire Dales National Park boasts some of the most stunning scenery in Britain and will provide an enviable setting for your career. We are looking for an IT Manager to join us on a temporary, fixed-term basis, at a time when the work of the National Park Authority is expanding.

About Us

We are an organisation that protects, enhances and promotes the immense beauty, wildlife and character of the Yorkshire Dales. Set against expansive heather moorland tops, each valley has its own distinct charm, from crags and waterfalls to an underground labyrinth of caves.

We are looking for an experienced IT Manager and team player to work full-time from our Bainbridge office with regular visits to our Grassington office. There is also the opportunity to work part of the week remotely.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join a National Park and work in one of the UK's most striking and breath-taking locations.

The Role

The creation of a new IT strategy and continuing and completing the full rollout of Microsoft 365 (including SharePoint) will be two key objectives for you over the next year.

You will also be responsible for the development, maintenance and support of all IT systems and management of the IT Team. It's a generalist role that will allow you to be across the whole IT piece rather than specialise, with the opportunity to influence policy and change.
You will be involved in the day-to-day tasks of managing the infrastructure and supporting users, along with the management of four IT Officers based at two locations.

About You

With appropriate qualifications and experience in a management role, you'll be taking on this "hands-on" position, with the strategic management responsibility of the Authority's IT systems.

Project management experience together with excellent communication and influencing skills to manage internal stakeholders and customer expectations are essential for you to work successfully with senior managers in delivering positive outcomes to meet Authority objectives.

Access to a car or access to a means of mobility support to meet the demands of the post (if driving you must have a current valid driving licence and appropriate insurance) is essential.
We are looking for a professional, proactive and customer-focused IT Manager with good interpersonal skills and a ‘can do' attitude.

This role is offered as a temporary 12-month, fixed-term contract. To be successful for shortlisting, please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification for the role. The information you provide within your application will be used in assessing your application, therefore, please explain in detail how you meet each of the Person Specification criteria.

Our recruitment process treats all job applications equally, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation or any other equality characteristic. That said, we particularly encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and other minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds, as this group are currently under-represented throughout the Authority.

For an informal chat about this vacancy, please contact Michelle Clyde, Head of Finance.

The closing date for completed application forms is 11pm on Wednesday 29th June 2022.
Applications may close before the deadline, so please apply early to avoid disappointment.

Anticipated interviews: Week Commencing 4th July 2022.
