    Year end accounts

    Hi,

Got my draft yr end accounts through, anything specific I should look for?

    Thanks

Check the figures against your own book keeping ones. Then ask your accountant about anything you don't understand.

Go through every line and make sure you agree with the figures compared to your own and that all the numbers add up. Can be a bit of a bane at first but it's a great learning curve. You have to sign it off and assume responsibility for them so make sure you understand and agree. Don't be afraid to ring your accountant and get a full and clear explanation. It can look hugely complex why this is showing and that's added later etc but once you've done it a few times your understanding will build up quickly.

        1. Check whether the accounts have a) Aberiviated Companies House accounts b) Detailed Profit and Loss for HMRC c) Detailed balance sheet d) CT600 (Corporation Tax return)
        2. Go through each number -if you do not understand single number ask your accountant
        3. Compare the variance in number against years numbers
        4. Read the notes, certain numbers are clubbed together in Balance sheet but notes section will have the breakdown
        5. Compare against the number you have presented

Accountant should not submit anything without your consent.
