    MTD VAT Web Solution

I've been developing a web based (software as a service) to the MTD initiative by HMRC, I'm wondering if this approach would suit anybody's requirements for MTD?

Basic functionality so far is account synchronisation, export account to Excel / CSV and export returns to PDF.

If anyone fancies taking it for a whirl (with fake credentials of course) and providing feedback, please let me know.

Is this aimed at those who dont have an accountant?

My accountant already have a solution that allows them to comply with the MTD rules.

Or, people like myself, who have an account but handle the VAT submissions themselves.

Also, I've developed the service to support multiple VRN's per user - on the prospect there might be "power" users, e.g. accountants themselves. Whether there's a market for that, I'm not sure.

There will be a few people here who will want this. As there have been a few posts asking for a solution.

I’m not sure it’ll make much money though as The APIs are so simple that I imagine there will be a few free solutions before long.

Having done something similar myself, the impression I get from potential customers I've spoken to is that there is some money in it, but not the fifty plus quid a year that most are charging for a basic MTD-compliant filing service.

Still, a few thousand users paying a few quid a year is not to be sniffed at...

            OK so here's a demo: https://vat.me/

You can sign up with test accounts generated here: https://vat.me/org (you must sign in the HMRC and use the given VAT number when adding an account)

Once signed up, you can pay for an account using the "upgrade you plan" link and using one of these test cards: Testing | Stripe

I'll dish out a free 2 years for those providing feedback

The implementation seems great but I'd recommended offering the first submission for free like the other solutions on the market, no real commitment then, and if people like it they become paying customers.

Dare I mention FreeAgent? Doesn't it already do this and if you bank with NatWest or RBS you get FreeAgent for free?

I agree and I'm actually working on that as we speak.

I developed this to scratch my own itch and to suit my own circumstances so I understand it's a niche tool. These VAT solutions are orders of magnitude cheaper than FreeAgent.

OK, I'll say it again, a bit louder - if you bank with NatWest or RBS you get FreeAgent for free?
