Do you understand how an umbrella actually works? For instance who actually pays the fee?

And why are you using the word illegal?
    Yes.
    No.
    Why not?

Are you sure? For instance could an umbrella charge a fee for claiming a furlough payment for an umbrella user? If so how, if not how would they cover their costs?

Because you have not said what you think is illegal and that's a hell of a word to use without any explanation as to why you think something is illegal.

Read my post above (not the yes,no one). Then read it again and if you still dont understand what I meant, ask me again.
In this post are the answers to your questions.

No I'm still at a loss - because all I see is someone who didn't understand how the furlough scheme worked (as evidenced by their first post), has admitted that they don't know how umbrellas actually work (while demonstrating said lack of knowledge in their other posts) and still hasn't explained why they are using the word illegal.

OK, I can not be bother to explain fully. It is your loss.
One hint - umbrella can still make money from you while on furlough if they sell you something/service.
Legal people can rule if this legal or it will break the law.

I really dont understand why some people here are trying to defend the brollies in that matter.
It is simple - government fecks up the economy > your gig is fecked up mid term > brolly puts you on furlough > goverment pays you.

The underlined part is where this simple chain is broken now.

brolly puts you on furlough > brolly pays you > brolly hopes goverment repays Umbrella

That's where the chain broke down.

That will break the law in so many ways I wouldn't know where to begin in deciding which law was the one with the largest criminal sanction...

To be fair.. Every single great idea that has been flouted on here, bar absolutely none, has fallen over because the OP didn't understand the basics of what they were suggesting and carried on until it became a complete waste of time discussing, even if it had a modicum of merit in the beginning.

There are cleverer folk than us making these schemes up. If a contractor has to dream one up you can bet your house its been thought off and didn't work.

This one isn't going to fly either unfortunately.

hahaha I judging by the gov and the civil servants I have worked with you are completely wrong. Wanna proof - covid19 situation.

Generally however you might be right about furlough in brollies.

One question here (for 0 points really). If a brolly spends close to no time doing stuff for you to earn its' fees, wont it be good gesture to invest 5 mins a month to put you on furlough and dont earn fees during this time? That's is provided there is £0 for the brolly to pay you.
