    Accountant advice please

    Hello all,

I am thinking of starting my own limited company from being with an umbrella company and have had Planet Services suggested as an accountant. Has anybody got experience of using these guys, good or bad, or any suggestions that they would recommend?

It's all new to me so any advice is much appreciated.

    Many thanks

Go and visit a few local firms to get a feel for their services, their approach and their costs. In my experience the contractor specialist accountants have not been good, but other peoples mileage has varied on that one...

I agree entirely. Used one well known name once and it was utter crap. I once received accounts that bore no relation to the info sent at all. Small local chaps much better. Apart from IR35, and for that probably best to join QDOS etc and pay for insurance/reviews, there are no tax rules for contractors that do not apply equally to anyone.

I've only ever been with a "specialist" accountant and they've been exemplary from day one.
