    Lol. That's the one!

I agree about the software, however after recent shenanigans with current accountant, I like the idea of being able to see them face to face!

On the software side, I ended up spending a lot (a lot) of time a few years back entering everything into Xero, so got quite invested with it, so ideally would want someone who can work with that.
I had problems with a local bod and got shafted royally so swapped to a big specialist and it was much easer. Being bigger they had SLA's and an escalation chain to get stuff done which was much more useful than having another body to try get face to face time with. The fact the new company was a specialist on top of the hierarchy and support made things much easier. Swapping to another small setup means you still at risk of not getting the specialist knowledge and may still not get the time and input you require. Be careful just going for another small outfit again.

Very few of us use Xero so doubt you will get many recommendations for a Xero outfit let alone in Wakefield I am afraid, particularly one that understands contractors as well.

I personally think you are going down the wrong path here for all the above points but if it helps there is a directory of Xero accountants on their pages.

Good points, yeah, maybe I need to rethink this. Thank you for your help!

Give any of the ones in a list in the first post a bell and have a chat. They should be able to tell you how they can dig you out of your spot and what they can do for you going forward. That should help with your confidence and decision. All of them either post on here regularly or have many existing posters with them. If any of them will accept Xero then double whammy but I'm sure a switch to FA will be seamless and will work for you going forward.
Might even be cheaper than you've been paying as well.

If you aren't getting a woolly feeling with them then at least you've tried and you can go back to your original idea.

Looking for a referral to one of the accountants mentioned in the opening post (Maslina/Gorilla/Dolan/NASA), PM me!

NASA isn't mentioned in the original post is it. Are you talking cash referral? Only Gorilla offer cash incentives and with a split it's only 50 quid. Much better you call each of them and pick the one thst gives you the warmest feeling rather than the one that gives 50 quid before taxes.

True, their name must have ended up on my short list from somewhere else!

Yes that's what I was looking for.

Having spoken to them I believe Maslins also offer a 10% ongoing discount for the referrer and referee.

I am going to start a contractor role soon for the first time, I have been reading this forum and and past pages on this topic over the last couple of days. and decide to have a chat with some of the accountants today. I notice you mentioned Gorilla offers cash referral, do you mind we split the referral if I decide to use them? Thanks

                      to be clear.
                      It's not a cash referral.
It's a £100 + VAT payment into the LTD. company.
It's also some (3 I think) months after the new customer has been with Gorilla.
