I pay just over £50 a month for mine and they're top notch. Been with them 18 years.

These firms that charge £100 + per month and tell you they are 'specialist' contractor accountants are pulling your pisser. They are relying on the fact that most contractors have absolutely no clue about running a business and they're exploiting you for it.

    HTH.

      +1

I was with a 'specialist' in Manchester who had a few contractors on board and charged £100+ / month, and when I changed businesses from one with a few dozen invoices to one with thousands of invoices each year, I paid less than I did in IT. When I queried this, his reply was "you were earning it then, so it seemed fair".

I think IT consultants must be one of the easiest annual accounts to do from an Accountants perspective than any other profession I can think of.

I had a simular experience with one of the big accountants that post on here alot. I won't go into detail but I'm pretty sure the price they quoted me for some specific work was based on what they knew I invoiced rather than the true cost of the work. A different accountant (another big one on here) quoted 60% less for same work to be done yet there monthly fee was pretty much the same.

Is it OK to ask who your accountant is?
