    Orange & Gold vs InTouch

Wanted to switch accountant. My current one doesn't seem to be contractor (specially IR35) specialist. My main priority is advice/guideance/protection/compliance on IR35 (my current contract and practices are outside IR35 and I also have Qdos IR35 insurance). IR35 specility remains my top expectation from my accountant. I am less fussy about other things like speedy response, online software/bookeeping etc.

So my short list was SJD, InTouch and Orange & Gold. However SJD was quickly dropped because they would want 12 months of fees before they can file my annual tax returns (due in Aug 2014).

Have seen a lot of posts from InTouch on this forum but almost nothing from Orange & Gold. Can people please share their views/comparison/guidance between these 2 accountants? Also don't know how big (clinet base) they are?

    Would appreciate your responses.

    Thanks in advance!

Your criteria are all wrong. Accountants for accounting, IR35 specialists for IR35. You need a contractor accountant (who would then have all relevant knowledge of the accounting aspects of IR35, such as the administration of deemed payments, if required, but you should not be relying on your accountant alone for IR35 contract reviews). Pick up the phone and talk to a few. InTouch are excellent from personal experience and Clare is a regular poster here. I haven't come across Orange and Gold, so I can't comment on them.

Also, accountants charge an annual fee, but break this into monthly payments for your convenience only. Accounting costs are not distributed evenly between months. On the contrary, the main costs involve preparing the annual returns.

Or go to this page. Then you get to a list of accountants that have had specific and detailed training on both IR35 and supporting freelance contractors.

And always remember a good accountant - like SJD - doesn't cost you money.

Never heard of Orange and Gold, are they anything to do with a brolly called Orange Genie?

I use Nixon Williams and would recommend them.
"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." Cicero

OP - if you're only looking at O&G and InTouch, then you'll find the latter on this list, but I can't see O&G on there.

Oh and this post is a +1 for InTouch

                    I've never heard of O&G.

I would recommend InTouch as a happy customer, but trying to be objective I think IT and NW get consistently the best feedback on CUK. Both are quite active on the forums, and this gives an excellent way to help inform your opinion by looking at what they write.

PS if you choose IT and want to use me as referrer PM me (I'd get a month free)
