    the thing about nice voices..

is that they sing a lot. because they sound nice, nobody is too fussed if they ramble on a bit

but get a rough singing voice, they have to get the job done quick

which probbly explains why I prefer Morrissey to susan Boyle

    Morrissey doesn't sing, he intones.
Susan Boyle sings but forgets her words...

I'll take Morrissey, socialist vegan or not...

Although you have to admit, Morrissey is a ******. I wouldn't take either of them, both ******* atrocious...

Add Bob Geldof to the equation, too?

Preferred him when he was in The Smiths, now all his songs seem to sound whiny.

Are you suggesting The Smiths didn't sound whiny?

They were fine for the era.

But some things get tedious with prolonged repetition.

Preferred him in I Bought A Vampire Motorcycle, he was a bit naff in Men Behaving Badly although Boon wasn't too bad.

As much as I'd categorise myself as a filthy rocker I (and I thought carefully about the use of this word) love "Viva Hate". It's just so interesting.

As for OP's theory on lovely voices. Old Lenny Cohen has a set of pipes that sound as though they 've been used to clear my drains yet I still find him very listenable, because I suppose his lyrics are interesting too.

Though I've still not forgiven him for revealing that the story behind Famous Blue Raincoat was merely imagined, the toerag.
