    Which commercial vehicle

    I've been looking around for a commercial vehicle for a while now and cannot seem to pin point what the definition of a commercial vehicle is in its true sense.

    There seems to be many variations in the term 'Commercial' and from speaking to others things like the L200, Navara and Hilux are treated as commercial, but recently i've come accross someone who said the Landrover disco was a commercial vehicle.

    I've investigated into this as i presumed this only applied to the discovery with only two seats, but it appears that this isn't necessarily the case. I've been looking at the approval type which needs to be 'N' and some discos with 5 seats seem to be documented within this category.

    Has anyone else got a discovery? or any thoughts on commercial vehicles.

    Me too. I'm looking for a small to medium sized pickup truck, with a high wheel clearance (so I could drive through say a foot of water).

    But knowing nothing about makes and so on, it's hard to even begin searching.

        Not wanting to hijack the thread, but as an example, if one was buying a Landrover, are there any models to avoid, and other models more/most recommended? Or would it be better to avoid Landrovers entirely for some reason?

        One's first thought is that generally the more recent and low mileage the vehicle the better it is likely to be. But that may not always be so - Some newer models might actually be cheaper and tackier than the older ones!

          You can't have any rear seats or even fittings. Effectively you end up with a posh looking van.

            It's not just the vehicle, sometimes the accessories can make or break it's tax status as a commercial vehicle, from the simplest things like customisation altering the weight of the vehicle, to the windows or lack thereof
            Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

            No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

              Looks like the discovery is out of the question as I need some sort of double cab or equivalent for the children and if im not able to have back seats in the discovery this rights this one off nicely.


              Anyone recommend a specific pickup they have had in the past?

                These seem to be highly rated and probably more frugal than most of the ilk, but more than likely not as good a used bargain as some others.

                  If i had a company car i'd have to pay 22% minimum and the cost on commercials are £550 for fuel and £3k per year tax.

                  So much cheaper really.

                    You can run a private car with mileage claimed through the company as most contractors do. Looks like the VW is the closest thing to the performace/refinement of a car if you want to go down that route.
