    The 'Great' War

Why is world war 1 being referred to as the 'great' war. No war is 'great'. Violence solves nothing.

I thought they put bromide in the tea to guard against that kind of thing?

              This feels appropriate

Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

They couldn't call it WWI until 1939, and as it was supposed to be the "War to end all wars" the great was coined

Where did the "war to end all wars" thing come from? Or is it just something that people said to justify it at the time? Certainly the actions of the allies at the end of WW1 virtually guaranteed another war, so it seems an odd thing to say.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

They had just killed 16m people, as opposed to the tens of thousands in previous wars, so I suppose a little propaganda - aka spin - was inevitable
