Skype for pensioner with no clue

OK so I have a pensioner friend, who would like to use skype (or google hangouts) occasionally, that’s about all, video calls to friends abroad
She has no clue at all about IT, and I won't be around to be the support bod
What's the easiest way to give her idiot proof access to skype?
I was thinking maybe an android tablet, pre-set to log into skype, but even that I am scared will be too much for her
Is there an even easier fool proof way to do it?

Sorry, but I think you're on a hiding to nothing. My mum has an iPad that logs into Skype automatically. Not once have I managed to raise her on it - despite the fact that I can see she's logged in (mum manages to do a fair bit on line too).
Don't get me started on my dad - he seems to think it's some kind of magic kaleidoscope

Someone should do an OS build that does nothing but allow the user into Skype... I aint got the time to do that, but would willingly pay a small fee for the use of...

This is why Macs exist. For arty farty types wanting to do 'stuff'.

No this is a normal person who has lived her entire life without needing to interact with IT. And is old enough to make it pretty pointless learning, even if they could work it out.

It would take far more effort to teach her to use a Mac even.

She just needs a simple switch it on go straight to Skype device, which is easy enough to do - so why none available?

            demand requires a market -

                ...

Dad is the same. Doesn't matter how many times I show him or connect for him, he just doesn't get it.

Most can use Facebook though and Facebook chat has a cam option. Try that. it's just a click of a single button.

                Or Facetime.

I don't think Skype is a well thought through user interface, in fact it is complete tulipe.

I have it on my xbox, computers and phone but I can't call myself, the system makes no allowance for device to device.

Is having 2 accounts too difficult?
