Rumours abound - suicide but lots of fake reports out there...

Usually reliable news sources are saying so: Time, Perez Hilton, the Daily Mail… oh, wait: only one of those is reliable

But yes, it seems he is

Yeah 'asphyxiation' but what does that mean? Could be strangulation could be something more sinister, hope not...

Not a great fan but he was always there in my movie/telly past, never did anything that was totally crap..

Every trending topic on Twitter is related to him, as are almost all tweets in my personal timeline. His death has clearly deeply moved many people.

Just re-watching his movie What Dreams May Come, tears down my face, a beautiful film made ever so poignant. Ending a bit crap in both ways....

Foreign officialdoms often have their own ways of using language that can seem outlandish to those who don't live there. "Asphyxiation" could be their term of choice for any death involving an act that prevented oxygenation of the blood, whether that be hanging, a plastic bag over the head, or the car's engine running in the garage. Often a generic term such as that will be used until a more precise mechanism is officially confirmed by somebody such as a coroner making a ruling.
