    music clips - advice needed

I will google this, but thought that someone here might have good experience.

I want to get excepts of musical tracks for a quiz-type event.
Is there any software or tool that can snip a bit out of a song or piece of music

If you have some audio capture stuff of the kind that rips the signal as it passes through the OS on its way to the sound card, you can grab the short samples of tracks from iTunes, Amazon, and suchlike places.
