DNA tests should be mandatory for CSA

Man who paid £30,000 in child support for 'daughter' over 22 years can't get money back even after DNA test proves he is not father
Girl was born from a one-night stand as the mother had a boyfriend already
Steven Carter, 49, from Devon twice received letters from CSA saying he would get refund
Mr Carter had £86.31p deducted from wages each week from from June 2007 until April 2014
Mr Carter did not understand official letters sent to him from 2003 to 2013 because he has dyslexia
Mr Carter has never met the girl at the centre of the row

The CSA took the money directly from his employer, deducted from his wages.

Another benefit with being a contractor - if the CSA want money from us, they have to come it directly from us, and the fight will be that much harder for them.

I'm not suggesting fathers should avoid paying CSA, after all it is your kid.

More that a quick DNA test should be part of the process of setting up CSA payments, paid for the father if its his and the Mother if it isn't his.

Happened to a neighbour of mine (not the wife swapping ones). Couple moved in with their child and a couple of years later got divorced. He moved away but came back each week to take kid out etc. Continued to pay the mortgage etc. Anyway, as he tells it, he heard rumours on the grapevine that the child wasn't his so took hair samples and had them tested and confirmed that, right enough, the child was someone elses. He had no clue, and no suspicians till he was tipped off though. Scary stuff.

Must be quite heartbreaking too, to find out the child you've raised isn't yours

indeed - but does this not mean a lot of women out there are a bit loose really - that times article says 1 in 25.....

and because they did it once and got pregnant it probably means there 'partners' are regularly stirring someone else's porridge

He was quite stressed about the situation. It did have an effect. I bumped into him a couple of weeks ago - things seem to have calmed down now so i'm happy for that. He did raise an important point about the impact on the child and how he felt sorry for the impact it would all have there. The child in question was only young, not so young to not have known 'daddy' though and eventually will ask questions.
