    More self congratulatory stuff

I ran my first requirements workshop today in German. Seriously. 1 hr and 20.

    Painful.

I thought a colleague who was going to act as the translator was going to be there, but they off-fooked.

The first 5 mins was spent arguing to postpone the meeting. I argued we should continue, and I would do my best.

The next 10 mins were skeptical. Then I just got into it.

Confidence makes the German flow more easily.

I am very, very proud this evening.

    Poor attendees.

Bad enough having someone who speaks your language fluently doing one of these things but having someone who picked the language up as an adult

Seems like it didn't work too well:

Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

            In perspective :

If English wasn't my first language and
If I didn't have niche IT skills

I would be answering to the head cleaners cleaners cleaner.

So I know properly where I am, and how lucky I am.

I just tried hard this past year with my German, and am starting to see some results. Which should encourage others I hope.

Nice, having German as a language can only be good, they do say (for us old fogies), the best way to learn a language is to be immersed in it, good luck with it all.

English is your first language??? Judging from your posts...
