Will Scottish independence mean that RUK will vote to leave the EU

What with the Scots being so keen on re-joining the EU, could one assume that without Scottish "let's stay in the EU" voters, RUK will vote to leave the EU when that referendum comes?

Much more popcorn to come, methinks

Scotland won't be allowed in to the EU; France and Spain at a minimum will veto them lest it encourages their own separatist regimes. So scratch another get out of jail card from the pack

As for the EU Referendum I have a strong suspicion the answer will be to get out and as far away from the EU as possible. Whether or not we can actually achieve that, and whether or not it is desirable to do so, is a whole other question. But if the Scots have gone, they won't be asked.

They wont veto, the worst that will happen is they will force them to take a longer route, but I doubt the EU will want to risk having such a rich country outside it's union, so it will whip then into a fast track for Scotland.

Articles 48 & 49 shoots that claim out of the water. 48 only needs a simple majority. It would be crass and spiteful of rUK to veto any application. Given the contributions potential of an independant Scotland vs the established economies of Greece, Italy and Spain or the lesser economies of the Balkland countries, the EU would welcome it with open arms if Scotland applied.

Do you really expect the EU to waive all their entry criteria on the basis of a small country claiming to have more oil than it has?

rUK won't veto an iScotland's entry as we don't want to be the main ones bailing out an iScotland's economy when it screws up.

It will be France, Spain and any other EU country with a separatist movement which seems to be a lot of them.
