    Independence for London?

I’ve had it with people freely expressing their contempt for our capital city. Let London be free, independent of the UK

    Toodlepip then

    Peoples republic of the M25!

Major sea-port, major airport, easily defined border, some of the world's best restaurants, theatre ,and entertainment, some of the world's finest educational institutions, enormous cultural diversity, and more commerce than you could shake a stick at, what's not to like?

Should probably annex a couple of the home counties though, for a bit of agriculture

A roster of world cities was outlined in the GaWC Research Bulletin 5 and ranked cities based on their connectivity through four "advanced producer services": accountancy, advertising, banking/finance, and law.
Arguably parasites the lot of 'em.

Where does the beer and food come from then?

Arguably from the ability of beer and food producers to access capital and advertise their products to the market.

Hmmm would the Home counties / rUK then hold London hostage for supplying it's energy needs?

Unless of course they planned to fire up Battersea again
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

It would need to use the Euro, as we wouldn't allow it to use the pound

Sounds a good idea, couple of questions.

                  1. What would happen if there was global banking crisis, would London have enough taxpayers to cover it's liability?
                  2. So if London was attacked or involved in a war, can it raise an army. Or is the idea that London would back out of all wars and global projection of power?
                  3. Does London have enough natural resources to sustain itself, so thinking about power, water etc.
                  4. I thought one of the reasons that attracted outside investment to London was the stability of the UK?
