    Is it possible?

That NL is going to split into two parties, say Blairites into the Progressive Democratic Party and Brownites into the Peoples Socialist Workers Party?

Already happened years ago. The moderates who split off called themselves the Social Democrats. Then they merged with the Liberals to become the Lib Dems.

Trouble was, even people who naturally belong in that political part of the spectrum won't vote for it. And what was left (Left) in the Labour party fell short of electability too, hence the Thatcher Years etc.

Then along came Tony with the bright idea that what people wanted was moderate policies but a Big Party, so he hijacked Labour back for the Social Dem view....

        I simplify (perhaps).

Is Brown really a leftie by Labour standards? I know people here don't like him because of his ruthless hunting of slack in the tax system, but is he far left?

don't you mean the SDLP which then split again after some arguments and a particulary bad election campaign?
