    Fruit juice has shed loads of fructose and will make you fat.

    The argument that it causes heart disease is ropey. Fat will make you fat and cause heart disease.

      The bit on carbs is relevant to why sugar (which is in fruits, albeit in small quantities usually) can keep you from losing weight. It's not so much that it makes you fat, as it is that the body will prioritise burning it over fat for energy, so it allows fat to stockpile.         Fruit is fine as long as you don't juice it, eating enough fruit to get a large amount of sugar is quite hard work. Just think how many oranges go into a small glass of fresh-squeezed OJ or look at how many bits of fruit smoothies boast about containing, and then imagine you were eating that fruit in its raw form.

                  The consumption of more calories than calories burned makes fat. The consumption of calorific carbohydrate is converted into fat more efficiently than calorific protein, since it is already in a form ready for conversion.
