    Another outsource failure

    Another outsource failure

This what happens when outsourced projects go to the lowest bidder who then cuts corners for the sake of profits

An unmanned cargo rocket has exploded seconds after lifting off from a commercial launch pad in Virginia.
The 14-storey tall rocket, was built and launched by Orbital Sciences Corp and took off from its seaside launch pad just after 22:20GMT.

Seeing the (other) thread title, I assumed it was the star Antares that had gone supernova, which it is due to do at any moment

Antares is a red supergiant star that is nearing the end of its life. Once there is no more fuel left to burn, the star will collapse and explode into a supernova — "at which time its brightness will rival that of the rest of our galaxy put together,"

You are aware that this isn't the cheapest bidder. This is the more expensive "corporate" company that was awarded a sister contract by those in NASA who didn't trust SpaceX.

Should have got a pan-European organisation funded by the taxpayer to do it Rosetta / Space Science / Our Activities / ESA

Surely if we were seeing it any moment, it would have had to have happened already. Many many many years ago.
Don't believe it, until you see it!
