Blind Iraqi (asylum-seeker ?)

He should have claimed that he didn't know the law just 'cos he couldn't read it! Or mentioned that it was in the film 'Scent of a Woman' and so it was OK! Or it was compliant with Sharia law! etc etc etc the mind boggles.

The BBC say that he is bannedfor 3 years and ordered to sit an extended driving test at the end of that

It could have been worse. He could have been blind drunk at the wheel.

Odds are he'll fail the extended driving test.

The extended practical driving test

Retesting for disqualified drivers and riders was introduced on 6 January, 1992. The purpose of retesting disqualified drivers is not meant as punishment, but is a road safety measure aimed at checking the driver’s competence.

Courts can impose an extended driving test on anyone who is:

* convicted of dangerous driving offences
* convicted of other offences involving obligatory disqualification

Loss of your driving licence for dangerous driving or related offences involving obligatory disqualification means that you return to ‘learner’ status - normal rules for provisional licence holders will then apply.

You must therefore take and pass a theory test for the category of vehicle you intend to take an extended practical driving test in.

The extended driving test is longer and therefore more demanding. It lasts for about 70 minutes and covers a wide variety of roads, usually including dual carriageways. You are advised to prepare by taking suitable instruction from an approved driving instructor (ADI).

Following disqualification from riding under the Road Traffic Act, all riders are required to complete CBT to validate their new provisional driving licence when it is issued.

Look, chaps, he is not white, so he has every right to do what the feck he likes, and we should all 'celebrate it'.

If he had been white, he would be in jail right now.

But, he is apparently an Iraqi from 'Darlaston, West Midlands', (aren't they all), who had been blown up in Iraq / didn't move quick enough after firing his RPG.

"The defendant, who has just three fingers on his right hand and suffers from leg tremors and is partially deaf, receives £520-a-month in incapacity benefit."

No reason to stop him driving then..... and he is just the sort of person the West Midlands needs if we are to avoid the pensions crises.
