    Closing company stuff (yet again!!!!)

I am aware that this has been done a million times on CUK but there seems to be contradictory advice on one point. Is there any need, if there is no CT due anyway, to provide a final CT return to date of closure to HMRC? This little company of my late wife's has never made a profit and this has been fully explained in the letter with attached figures that I sent them.

Some say yes as does CUK main advice page but this is not my interpretation of what it says on the HMRC or gov.uk websites and there are posts on here where all agree you don't need to.

Also having written to HMRC re closing down do they usually send an acknowledgement?

    Cheers.

PS Actually it depends which gov.uk page you read as well!!!

If you like you can simply submit a DS01 form to Companies House, writing to HMRC with a copy saying the company made a loss in the final period. They may request to see a P&L (sounds like you've done this), or possibly insist upon a CT return. Most likely you simply won't hear back and the strike off will go through without challenge.

Cheers. Much as I thought. Can't imagine any challenge for such a piddling little company.
