They're not 'ours' anyway. Artifacts like this should be given back from where they were stolen from so they can be displayed in museums in the country of origin.

Funny how it's always the same people who spout the politically correct party line. Not an original thought among them.

I'm not usually described as being politically correct but, I suppose, by supporting an Independent Scotland then, politically, I am correct

It's not original because it's an old story but artifacts were taken (or 'bought' by imperialists from people who didn't own them in the first place) from countries of origin. It's only right that they are returned.

I suppose artworks taken from the Jews during the war should be retained by the Nazis going by your reasoning? /Godwins

              No.

If you read further than the headline, it's only one of the statues that has been loaned, so even if the loan is never returned, we still have the rest.

If we want them that much why don't we offer to buy them from the Greeks properly?
They are so skint they'd probably let us have them at a knock down price.
I'm not even an atheist so much as I am an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches, and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. [Christopher Hitchens]

Why should you pay for what's already yours?
