"I have clearly made a terrible error for which I am deeply sorry. My comments about Birmingham were totally in error. And I am issuing this apology and correction for having made this comment about the beautiful city of Birmingham. I do not intend to justify or mitigate my mistake by stating that I had relied on other sources because I should have been much more careful. There was no excuse for making this mistake and I owe an apology to every resident of Birmingham. I am not going to make any excuses. I made an inexcusable error. And I am obligated to openly acknowledge that mistake. I wish to apologize for all residents of that great city of Birmingham.

Steve Emerson

PS. I am making donation to Birmingham Children's Hospital."

Though as somebody pointed out, by referring to "the beautiful city of Birmingham" he's made another ridiculous mistake

Okay - fair enough. So if he didn't make the mistake due to relying on other sources - how did he get to be so far off the mark.

Is he saying that he basically makes crap up all the time - and on this occasion, he simply got a bit carried away.

Interesting - how do we know how our cities are portrayed around the world?

The fact that there are a lot of ethnic groups in Birmingham has lead someone to make a pretty crap connection

But maybe we should at least sit up and ask why........

He also states that their are religious police on the streets of London - which is a distortion of the truth. There are Muslim vigilantes on the streets of London, but they have no legal authority whatsoever (and should be arrested and prosecuted where found, for harrassment).

There were some (about four, IIRC) Muslim "vigilantes" on the streets of London, though it was at least two years ago now, and they were involved in three or four incidents, or possibly fewer. They were arrested and prosecuted.

Presumably, what with this being the Mail, "patrol cars out in force" means "Simon and Isaac have cancelled their golf game this afternoon in favour of driving aimlessly round Edgware and Colindale in an ageing Toyota Corolla."

You have misunderstood my question about the phrase "rich Jewish districts", as opposed to the interpretation under which you have made the assumption? This is just more prejudicial Mail-type rhetoric.

Firstly, not all of North-West London is rich, and nor is it Jewish? Whilst there are suburbs where Jewish people live, not all of them are rich, nor are they predominantly Jewish.

Let's just leave it at that, please, since Prejudice has a large part to play in the whole original subject?

Manchester has a much longer walk between its stations.

Yes, the shuttle bus is fine during the hours it runs.

And on my last visit the trams didn't actually tell you which platform was the one you want.

The outcome of the latter was that I found a pub which served a cracking good pint of Boddies, so all was not lost.

Perhaps that's the plan.

Even the news anchor was visibly shocked by his claim. He described Birmingham like Mecca were non-Muslims are not allowed.

WHITE working class Brummies fear parts of their city have become no-go areas for them. The shock claim has been made in a bombshell Government report into how poor white people feel about immigration. The study has also revealed that hard-working white Brummies fear politicians have betrayed them in favour of refugees and single mothers........

.......Meanwhile, the number of Pakistanis in the city will increase from 13 per cent in 2006 to 48 per cent in 2026. It is believed the percentage of other ethnic groups, including African, Caribbean, Indian, Bangladeshi and Chinese, will remain roughly around the same. According to the report, Birmingham will become only the second British city in which whites will no longer be the majority group.

The change-round will have happened by 2024, following in the footsteps of Leicester, where it is expected the white population will find itself in the minority in 12 years’ time.
