6 months contract and renting a flat

I am on a 6 month contract in Wales away from home, have done few weeks already staying in a hotel. I want to rent a flat as it seems to be slightly cheaper and provides kitchen but landlords keep mumbling about minimum 6 months contract.
I have only 5 full months left on my contract and also what if a client will cancel it before ending (which is quite unlikely but technically possible). How do contractors deal with this landlords attempts to lock them for 6 months?

You either sign for six months, or you don't rent a flat from a landlord wanting a six month agreement.

My first contract, I got stung because they terminated after four months so I had two months left to pay.

You might be better off looking at something like mondaytofriday.com. There used to be a thread (sticky?) somewhere around about staying away from home and what people did that had some good advice.

When I was in Swansea, I used A Space in the City. If you don't mind not necessarily staying in the same place each week, it's pretty good and a little bit more comfortable than a hotel room and slightly cheaper if you are cooking for yourself. They have a presence in Cardiff as well.

The Swansea office has great customer service; we even used them to bring the family out for a couple of weeks over the Summer.

We wanted to buy a house in Wales, and managed to negotiate a rolling monthly contract on a rental whilst we looked around

You can get people agreeable to short term lets, it depends how desperate they are
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

As soon as it gets warmer from May or so you can go camping, just rent a space for a few months, put a big tent up, saves a lot of money

It's not really any different from the real world (i.e. permiedom). You could easily start a job, sign a rental agreement or even buy a house and have the job disappear after a few months. If anything this stuff is easier as a contractor as you know how long your contract is.

            So stop your moaning.

I like the idea of camping whilst away.

Leave the Airbeam on a campsite and home at weekends.

I'm sure I'd get a good rate monthly.

A friend of mine sleeps in his car.

That's taking things a bit too far IMO.

Simple answer? Take a chance or don't bother.
