Watching the news, the latest fad is to build houses that incorporate straw in the walls. They're banging on about how great an idea it is since straw is easily grown blah, blah, blah.

Its treated so is fully flame resistant (erm, ok) but the one missing question that is not being asked is, what about hayfever suferrers?

The straw in the walls is encapsulated in a plaster type product so once built & cleaned would it be a problem?

Think it's been about a few years as a building material, I know it can get waterlogged and cause all sorts of hassle as my sisters new house (well new ish) had a badly sealed wall made of the stuff next to the shower with predictable results!

As to the hayfever angle that's hay you plank, not straw, I'm sure the wolves would be a problem apart from them being extinct here so that mitigates it a tiny bit.

It's pollen that gets you with hay fever, not hay because that's dead - I think. In my case it always seems to be tree pollen that you get earlier in the year.
