Professional indemnity cover level for subcontractor

My insurance asked me to ensure that any subcontractors I use must have their own subcontractor Professional indemnity. Do I have to asked those subcontractors to have the same level of cover as my company?

My thinking it would depend on the work that they do so if they only do a bit of design works for a client then £1 million cover should be enough as the work only small part of the project. And if I subcontract majority of my project work to a subcontractor then I need to make sure that the subcontractor will have cover match with what my client want? Is this right?

    Thanks
