    Game over for Labour

BBC News - Average income back to pre-crisis levels, says IFS

Their biggest stick was the cost of living crisis, with the economy doing well, lots of jobs and now this, I think the election could go to the tories.

With the mass immigration of low skilled workers there must be more proles voting in this electoral cycle, I wouldn't rule a Labour government out

Never underestimate the power of stupid people, it's how governments get elected
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

Yes it is game over for them. They know it as well and have for a while.

They would be better sacking their current leader and most of the front bench and then starting again.
However, they have never been very good at doing that sort of thing so the Ed saga may run for a while until the ex postman becomes available.

        FTFY

indeed it looks like advantage Cameron, not that Wallace is much competition.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

You may be right but realistically I think that they are finished for this cycle.
          Interesting election though.

The Tories though I think, with either a majority or minority government. Maybe though a repeat with the Liberals but I think that may cause issues with both parties.

Income is where it was, but what of inflation? Aren't people still worse off in real terms?

For instance pay freezes were put in place for many public service jobs, last year teachers received a 1% increase so their incomes are higher than they were but things cost more than 1% more than they did...

Yes, definitely people are generally worse off.
We have just experienced (hopefully) the largest re-adjustment of our working lives though.
A 50 year financial re-adjustment event so things are still playing out in the wider economy.

A hung parliament is again very likely except this time, the Liberals will have fewer MPs

UKIP will take a notable percentage of the vote, and will far eclipse the SNP in the number of votes but will be lucky to get past having two MPs

This leaves the Tories with little leeway for a coalition, and I just can't see them managing to get a majority in parliament on their own

Yeah this is true, I suppose as a contractor where you can get 10% hike just by asking at extension time we forget the poor permies out there.

Once the election campaigns get into full swing the tories will increase their vote substantially. Labour just don't have a pitch to deliver and that will become very clear to the electorate.
