    Ashcroft Polls

SNP set for 56 of 59 Scottish seats in general election, poll suggests | Politics | The Guardian

So SNP will be the 3rd biggest party, this is ironic after the referendum result. SNP will have a major influence in Westminster. Perhaps Sturgeon will be deputy PM?

No, Nicola is First Minister of Scotland and is not standing as an MP. As it stands, Angus Robertson MP is the leader of the SNP in Westminster so he would be in line as DPM.

Yes it would be funny but he would need to be leader of the SNP in Westminster first and so far he has said he wouldn't take over from Angus. I've a feeling that may change if he is elected.

The only irony is that Labour's membership in Scotland is now circa 7,000 members and the SNP's is close to 100,000 (cf UK Tories at 150,000 ). Not only that, but the "Scottish" Labour leader isn't even a member of the Scottish parliament. Once bitten, twice shy and all that. I've got to hand it to the Tories, they've played a blinder here. Cameron must be laughing his socks off at how Labour have willingly skewered themselves.

A lot more funny than ironic, TBH.

I'm not 100% sure, but if that did happen, it may upset some of the electorate sarfff of the border

Absolutely ! Now the only tactic Murphy has is to run about drinking Irn Bru for photo ops (FOI says he claimed it on expenses !) and repeating his mantra that voting SNP is a vote for the Torys. Funnily enough, at the same time Ruth Davidson is running about saying that a vote for the SNP is a vote for Labour

Although, BBC Scotland News and STV news is like a party political broadcast on behalf of Jim Murphy. Two days ago, the 'big' news was Murph's announcement that, under Labour, university tuition fees would be free. For a start, they have been anyway, and it's devolved, so nothing to do with GE15. Labour in Scotland are devoid of any ideas and strategy.

Not as much as having Sinn Fein/IRA in a coalition though, if Labour really are considering it
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

Murphy has only just announced he is standing again for WM despite the fact he would need to stand down next year causing a by-election if he gets elected to the Scottish parliament in 2016 (which should happen as he'll be put top of the list for Labour for the PR part of the vote).

If he stands but loses in May he will get £33k as a payment for all MPs losing seats. If he decided not to stand in May he would get nothing.

They still refuse to take their seats so WM is short of 5 MPs at the moment.
