    Damn internet!

Seeing a solicitor this afternoon and need to provide proof of identity including a bank statement or utility bill less than 3 months old. What? Who gets those anymore? I do everything via online accounts. Same with tax and any other official stuff.

Various females I know have problems with providing identification because everything is in their husband's name but it seems to be becoming a general problem.

Can't be just me. What's the solution?

Wooh! Just opened my mail and there's my council tax bill. At least I got some benefit in return for my £1840.54!

Would prints from my cheap crappy printer be acceptable? Could be forgeries.

I got asked for proof of identity at the address my girlfriend rental whilst looking for our new home, this was after explaining I only visited there at weekends I was living 300 miles away

I had to change my drivers license to her rental address, and move a storecard to that address to keep them happy

It's a tick box culture over and above any sane sense of staying within the law, that seems to come secondary even with Solicitors

Some places will not accept that. That especially includes banks, even after they themselves have led the field in encouraging customers to "go paperless".

Yes, hanging is too good for them.

I believe that HSBC will certify an online statement you print off and take into branch. Or at least they did when my OH asked. Presumably other banks will as well.

They stopped doing them a while ago.

                Quite annoying twats.

Tried that my Solicitor wouldn't accept it, because whilst they'd certified it, they hadn't printed it on headed paper
