    Blurred Lines

I can't believe they actually tried to argue the song, in part, was not directly lifted from the 'original'.

Blurred Lines verdict: How influence was ruled as stealing - BBC Newsbeat

Suppose that is karma for having really dodgy lyrics.

Tom Petty also had a major financial success recently with the similarity between Sam Smith's "Stay with me" and "Won't back down". Undisclosed out of court settlement. Defence was 'Ah didny know, honest'.

And had I read the article first, I'd have known it was in there.

I wonder if the Beatles copyright holders and Abba are going to take loads of artists to court....

Oasis would keep them busy enough for the next ten years

I think the Beatles estate would be too embarrassed to admit a claim for such bad cover versions in court.

Who actually owns the rights to the Beatles publishing these days?

Sony/ATV although I believe McCartney does own some...
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

They didn't sound that similar to me. The bass line was kind of the same I suppose.

This is similar to the issues over software patents. Too much of this sort of thing and nobody will dare do anything for fear that somebody with deep pockets will sue for millions.

Read a few books on the bold Marvin, can't imagine his parental family side currently profit that much on his records seeing as his ex wife ( daughter of Berry Gordy, owner of Motown ) fecked him over big style in court.

They settled out of court once if Marvin would write her an album where she would entirely profit from, he thought he could write something quickly, then completed a two disk onslaught into her and their marriage, he called it 'Here my Dear'.

One of my favourite albums, top quality angry break up music.

I would think that song was off limits to the Gordy side of the family and is why they are going bonkers happy over the money.

                    What's dodgy about the lyrics?

He's singing about the power women have over men (and this one woman in particular).
He can tell she's into him, even though she's a 'good girl' (hence the blurred lines), and he's determined not to let her pass him by so he just watches and waits until she sends him some signal that she want's him to give her a good seeing to (which he thinks she secretly wants but doesn't currently get). She manages to resist him which drives him nuts until at the end it seems like they're making progress.
