My subconscious is annoying. It's got a mind of its own.

Mmm. So if you do understand the consequences, why would you need to attend the event?

Wow, sounds very sketchy, doesn't it. I keep getting shady e-mails from some outfit called "HMRC", with titles like:

        "Tax Relief for small businesses"
Great Business | Tax relief and incentives for business

        and

"Make sure you claim all the VAT you’re due"
        https://www.gov.uk/reclaim-vat

It's crazy - learning to use the rules as they were intended!

Yeah, UKIP even showed them how to do this.

            From ZL's link:

The retention period for general financial data, of which members’ expenses is a subset, is three years after the current financial year finishes. The longstanding policy on retention of MPs’ expenses records was originally agreed by the members estimate committee
It's 6 years for the rest of us. Corrupt to the f* core!

Indeed. As for UKIP, they suspended the woman on the basis of what her advisor was overheard saying. So lets not pretend UKIP is at the heart of some scandal, when this is common practice in Westminster, to a degree that'd make even the most hardened tax evaders blush.

UKIP need to learn, like some other party candidates I should add, how not to get caught.

Rule number one of politics today - every bloody person has a camera and video recorder on them.

Of course, they're politicians, both corrupt and above the law.
Anyone who doesn't realise that they unashamedly act and honestly believe that there's one rule for them and another for everyone else is either a fool or so deluded that they need medical help.

Well they do have parliamentary privilege so they are the law as they pass it so are above it, but also subject to it.

They have used parliamentary privilege in this term to be the first to name companies and people who a few MPs have decided have done bad acts, which the media and other people have been threatened with legal action if they were the first to do the same.

So some of their privileges are useful while others are a complete joke.

However in terms of their expenses it was a trick to con the public into thinking that their salaries weren't so high which has been going on since the Thatcher era. Thatcher famously didn't claim her salary for being PM as she was married to multimillionaire and decided she didn't need it.
