                  OK so we now know a MayDay was issued. So the plane was stricken.

                  Also they said it approached the Alps much lower than is usual for that particular flight path.

                  So I'm going with that it was losing altitude until it had an argument with an Alp, and lost.

                  What say you?

                    The flight path is not logical in case it was a bomb/attack which didn't fully disintegrate the plane, the pilot would have turned back south away from the mountains.
