How ill do you have to be to pull a contractor sickie?

After a week off in Spain where I felt rough all week back at client today still feeling semi-rough. But since I'm COTBAC Im here. I wouldnt be if I was permie!
Unfortunately, WFH not an option at this client or I'd have pulled that one.

Whats the worse you've been and still turned up?
In the past, I did turn up once having a really bad dose of the squits - probably spent at least 40% of the day in the 'trap'.
I was always jokingly say I'd have to be bleeding from the eyeballs not to turn up. :-)

On a serious note, there must come a point where you're potentially making yourself even worse risking longer time off or just not being able to perform at client site.

Mate of mine (teacher not contractor) showed up to work for weeks when he was ill - ended up in hospital with pneumonia. Not cool. Especiually since hes a teacher and could have pulled an easy sickie.

I got blood poisoning in my leg last year, ignored it first thinking I must have got bitten by something. When my leg turned purple, and got very painful to walk on I had to go to my GP

I was told off for leaving it so long, and had to spend at least two months at home resting with my leg elevated higher than body

No home working allowed, so not sick so much as unable to supply services. All I could do was watch movies and play online games

I wasn't really sick as I could still have worked, but meh at least I had an IR35 defence, no work, not allowed to work even and no billing
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

How desperate are you for money? If you can answer that question, you have answered the original one.

Four weeks in hossie having defibrillator fitted after endless tests, three weeks back at clientco, then back in hossie five weeks in ICU with some 'fever of unknown origin' - constant anti bios, and little proper food, and the most disgusting poo I've ever heard/smelt/seen at end when fever went. I had to apologise for it. (Was in commode)

Not cool though - two months no work. Where you mid-contract?
Did they bin you or did you go back?

Mid contract, and they had no notice as I had to leave work in a hurry to get to my GP, and they set me straight to casualty

After two months I went back, a weird time the other contractor in the office got Gout shortly afterwards as well

But being public sector it would have taken them two months to even think of recruiting anyone so they probably did the right thing doing nothing
