There are not many people I truly admire. Thatcher was one and John Bird is another. A man who has done more for the poor than probably anyone in this country. he is not a whining leftie (if he is a leftie then so am I) who pretends to help the poor whilst instead patronising them with benefits and sh*t public services run primarily not for them but instead for the benefit those who provide ,just in order to appear to be virtuous. He treats people as equals and in the process by actually doing good he exposes the liberal hypocrites of the left as what they are
I knew people who suffered in London from this removing of social housing. I also knew people who changed radically because they saw the social opportunity for themselves and their children. University education and better jobs were the corollary of this. Social mobility increased.
I suppose hypocrisy is the word that came to mind as we heard people like Tony Benn call this a war on the working classes: sitting on an enormous piece of Holland Park real estate as he pronounced. John Bird: It
