Q: Peter Kay, Keith Lemon et al, are they funny?

TV was on in the background while I was doing some paperwork.

Rarely does something irritate me enough to extricate myself from what I'm doing and go and find the remote to switch off the telly but 5 minutes of Peter Kay's Lift Share drove me to distraction.

Keith Lemon and any of the alter egos of whoever it is who plays these inane characters has a similar effect.

Probably an age thing (though a mate of mine tells me that, in the case of Kay, you'd find him more amusing if you came from the North West)

I'm from Bolton and I loved Peter Kay's stuff but now I know he's an utter arsehole I find it hard to watch him though I did think Car Share was funny.

Keith Lemon/Avid Merrion/Lee Francis, I thought Bo Selecta was well funny the rest is shiite, and funnily enough I see him in Leeds a lot now I live here, and he's a decent bloke from what I've seen and heard.

Michael McIntyre grinds my shiit however. Just sayin'.....

I preferred Gricer. Pity there isn't a poster to take his place.

              Peter Kay? No.
              Keith Lemon? Who?
              Al ... Bundy? Yes, very.

I don't like Lemon, not sure I've ever heard him as himself rather than a persona.

Kay I like although I didn't really get Car Share. Yesterday the entire episode seemed to contain one joke about dogging, though I was only half-watching.

I tuned into this once expecting the panel to contain the likes of Tom O' Connor, Lionel Blair, Ray Allen & Lord Charles etc instead it was a selection of "never 'eard of 'em" post modern hipster types who think it's oh so funny to be in a pastiche of some tacky 70s game show.

I think I preferred the originals

Perhaps I'm getting old (OK, I am getting old...) but watching presumably intelligent people pretending to be ignorant bigots banging on about bodily functions and bottoms and trying to appeal to 18 year olds doesn't actually raise a smile. Car Share lasted five minutes before I turned over out of boredom; like watching paint dry in a Lancashire accent. I've tried Mrs Brown, left me not even cold, just bemused that anyone found it hilarious. Connolly does (did...) crude humour and was hilarious; Lemon is simply crude.

Alternative comedy - just like old fashioned comedy without the funny bits...
