An Opodo spokesperson said another common reason for a flight cancellation is a name being entered incorrectly in the online form.
It’s usually just a spelling mistake, but on occasion it’s an amusing error.
An alarmed customer called immediately after he received his booking confirmation and requested to change the name on the ticket, which they mistakenly entered as ‘Mr Fried Egg’.
In another case a woman called to add an extra letter to her companion’s name, but the ticket had to be cancelled as it turned out that her seatmate was her pet cat.
