    Any CAD Technicians here?

    Hi guys

There seems to be mostly IT contractors here, just wondering if there are any contract CAD Tech's on here? I work contract for a company, and recently due to an injury working from home for them. It got me wondering, it would be great to work from home full time, working for various companies around the country remotely. Just wondering if there are any other CAD Tech's on here that do this?

    Thanks in advance

I believe that, technically, NLUK may be a cad and a bounder, but that might be too harsh.

Lol. Funny coincidence but I used to be an AutoCAD trainer as well.

I have a friend that used to do contract architectural CAD work for the big building people like Bovis etc but work dried up and he's left CAD altogether. I think generic draughtsmen are ten a penny so you would have to have some specialised skill as well and CAD is just a tool.

Sounds like you are closer to the market than us so can you not see if there is a need there or not?

I used to slap CATIA on every (proper) RISC Unix under the sun in the early naughties, even Ultrix ISTR....

Actually I still have an SGI Octane in the shed that broke during a CATIA backup, took it home to 'fix it', still got it....

Still no idea what CATIA is but I understand it's a CAD thingie....

And your question on what's possible within your own area of work was a good one?

I think the answer is probably that there are no other CAD technicians on here that are working from home full time.

Yeah, seems that way fair enough.

Here's a constructive suggestion, don't type lol at the end of sentences, it makes you appear to be a juvenile moron. While that may well be true, why advertise it?
