    In a few words, could somebody tell me who he is and what he's famous for?

    I just can't bring myself to click on any of the interminable links to stories about him that seem to be everywhere at the moment.

    Quite a famous sports star back in the day. Now the step father of the Kardashian clan (how did my predictive text know that?) and newly 'out' transgender person. Hope that helps.

      I wasn't too sure but Mr. Wikipedia does:

      A former college football player, Jenner came to international attention as a decathlete, winning the gold medal in the men's decathlon event at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, and setting a world record not beaten until 1980. Jenner subsequently starred in numerous movies and television specials including several made-for-TV movies, and was briefly Erik Estrada's replacement on the TV series CHiPs.
