    Anyone ever tried house-swapping?

    Sites like https://www.homeexchange.com

Basically you swap homes with someone for a week or two as a cheap holiday. In principle a wonderful idea but clearly letting others in your house isn't something everyone would be happy about (all that horse porn would have to be hidden (unless you were swapping with Germans in which case you'd just leave it on the coffee table)).

      Never in a million years....

As the partner of someone who runs a small business and deals witht the public and mate of someone who rents out a holiday home, never underestimate the ability of people to not give a toss.

Its amazing how many people out there will not give a tulipe of inconveniencing you, breaking promises, costing you money etc. Also, most people have no consideration of anyone elses property.

Never assume everyone would treat things like you would. They won't in general.

Why not do one better and get paid to holiday in someone elses house.

House sitting: the usual deal is to keep plants and animals alive and get paid for it. I wish my retired parents did this.

THe difference here is you're in their home while they're in yours, so (you hope) the type of people who would do this are the type who would be well behaved.

But it is an issue, leaving all your stuff around... clothes, books, whatever. Kind of weird.

Reading your posts, I thought you were on benefits and you live in a council home.
